Our expedition-style voyages take you to remote destinations in the far North, where we provide you with the opportunity to experience pristine natural environments and breath-taking landscapes of ice, rock and water. Since our vessel is based in the Netherlands, we also offer voyages in less far-flung places on our way to and from the Arctic. These voyages either have a maritime history focus, or they are pure sailing voyages with the aim to cover ground. The latter of which may be of particular interest to those in the process of mile-building for their sailing licenses.
Ezra and her crew are also for hire for film crews and research projects. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with interesting project ideas!
You may be asking yourself whether you need to be a seasoned sailor to join one of our voyages. The answer ist no, not at all – particularly in the Arctic. The vast majority of our itineraries is tailored for you to be able to thoroughly explore and enjoy the coastal environment and we therefore cover relatively short distances on a given day. While under way, our experienced crew can handle the vessel entirely on their own, but you are of course more than welcome to partake in the daily seamanship tasks if you have a desire to do so. A modicum of physical fitness is required, however – embarking and dis-embarking our inflatable tender and exploring the coast on foot absolutely require that. The voyages that are geared towards experienced sailors generally are blue-water passages and are clearly indicated as such.
For 2020, we are once again planning a full season in the Arctic. The itinerary from early April to late October is as follows: Netherlands – Orkney and Shetland Islands – Lofoten – Svalbard – East Coast of Greenland – Iceland – Scotland – Ireland – Cornwall – Netherlands. Below, you can find an overview of the voyages we have planned. Detailed information will be added as planning for each voyage is complete. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you are interested in joining us for part of next year’s exciting expedition!

This year, refit work on Erza continues. During the Summer months, we will explore local cruising grounds in the Netherlands and will partake in the 1st Dutch Wooden Boat Festival in Den Helder, Ezra’s new home. Please contact us at any time if you are interested in stopping by or joining us for part of this year’s relaxed cruising and exploration season!
Last year, we’ve taken a bit of a break and have moved our little ship from her previous base in beautiful Cornwall to the Netherlands. It was with a heavy heart that we left the Falmouth-area and our fabulous hosts at Freeman’s Wharf Boatyard behind. We decided to make the move to significantly reduce travel time to our base – both for us during refit-time, as well as for our guests when joining us for voyages from and to our new base. Once at her new home near Amsterdam, we’ve given Ezra a thorough overhaul as she was a bit tired from the hard work of previous years.
We couldn’t spend this beautiful summer entirely on dry land, however, so we offered some voyages to London and to the Fresian Islands, focussing on the fascinating maritime history of these destinations. Berthing in the heart of London at St Katharine Docks and exploring the Cutty Sark and the National Maritime Museum in Greenwhich were particular highlights.
There is one voyage left this year: in late September, we are embarking on a reconnaissance and research voyage to Copenhagen and back. In preparation for next year’s season, we will be visiting traditional boat-building hotspots in Denmark along the way and do research and networking around the topic of climate change in the Arctic while in Copenhagen. There still are a few free berths. Find out more…
